I thought this product seemed like a good idea...until I tried it!
I found this item on Yardsellr.com. It's a website that is basically a yard sale on the Internet. I'm hooked on that site! This is one of three items I've purchased from that site since I joined about 2 weeks ago! I got a great deal on this! I only paid $2.46. Eggies is a hard boiled egg system. Check out the info video here Eggies

These are the parts for one egg container. So multiply this times 6. |
![]() |
You pour the egg into each container. |
![]() |
One large egg inside. |
![]() |
Place into boiling water |
They need to cool off before opening because there's a little bit of hot water inside each egg container that spills out as soon as you un-screw it...yes, that's what happened to me.

After they are cooked |
![]() |
Slightly under cooked after 17 min. |

Egg gets stuck in the threading and on these rubber rings, making it difficult to clean all the pieces. |
I'm just glad I didn't pay more than $3.00 for this.
Does anyone out there want to buy a slightly used Eggies for $2.46 plus shipping?
Glad you were the guinea pig, lol, it did sound like a great idea though!!!
ReplyDeletelol...I may try it again! Maybe it gets easier with practice!
Deleteheeheehee.....love it....thanks for sharing....made my day!
ReplyDeleteHi Lori! Thanks! xoxox
DeleteI received not one, but two sets of these for Christmas. I hate them! The eggs stick, are a ridiculous shape and then you have to wash 24 pieces of plastic to make 6 eggs. Totally ridiculous idea!
ReplyDeleteLOL...so it's not just me who feels this way! Thanks Thea! =)
DeleteI wish you had of asked me about these. I got some for Christmas & took them back to Walmart. The lady said they are getting most of them back. LOL!!Put them back on Yardseller!
ReplyDeleteDo you really boil your eggs that long? If I say have 5 eggs to boil, I usually boil them 5-6 minutes. If I have 10-11 in the same pot, I boil them 10-11 minutes. Mine come out just right every time.
LOL...I guess these Eggies are more popular than I thought! I usually always boil my eggs for 13 minutes no matter how many are in the pot...and they're perfect! But with these Eggies it takes alot longer!
DeleteLOL! This was a good post. ;) As long as you don't use super fresh eggs to make hardboiled eggs, they should peel just fine! If the eggs are too fresh, you'll end up with a mess. Let them age in your fridge a couple of weeks before using them for hardboiled. :)
ReplyDeletelol...thanks Married Lady! Eggs never have a chance to get old in my house! I know there's another trick for easy-peel hard boiled eggs, but I can't remember it right now! I think you have to plunge the cooked eggs into ice water? I'll have to Google it!
DeleteI bought it at the dollar store... for a dollar. I got it so I could try making egg white only hard boiled eggs using the stuff in the cartons. Yea.. PITA washing all this stuff.. it did work though
ReplyDeleteOh! That's a very cool idea to use them for hard boiled egg whites! I know lots of people that will only eat egg whites! Thanks Linda! =D
DeleteEasy peeling: cool tap water into the pot you have your boiled hot eggs in, drain, do again, drain. Then roll the eggs around the pot, cracking the shell; this will not break the under lining. Next pick up your cooled egg and peel; because the underlining wasn't broken, when you peel the majority of the shell comes off together. My father's mum showed my mum who showed me.
ReplyDeleteThanks...I will definitely be trying that technique! I also have since learned that adding a little baking soda to the pot of boiling water also works to make the eggs easy to peel! I tried it and that works really well also! =D
ReplyDeleteI got mine from the 99 cent store I haven't used mine yet I just might give it away lol
ReplyDeleteLOL! No, its worth 99 cents just to try it once! Or you can have a yard sale and maybe sell it for $2 ;)
Deletemixed feelings about the "Eggie" they do solve the problem of getting the shell off of fresh eggs. They do make a quick, easy snack when unmolded and kept in a bowl in the fridge. They would work sliced for salads, or egg salad. I don't care for the shape (half an egg) or the bubbled appearance of the exterior of the egg white. They do take prep time and clean up. I haven't been able to find out if they are dishwasher safe. They clearly state that they are not microwave safe.
ReplyDeleteHi Maryann! Yes, I feel the same way you do! The parts are dishwasher safe. It was fun to experiment with, but I haven't used it more than once. I think if I was constantly making small batches of egg salad I would use it more often. When I make egg salad I always use 9 eggs, which make about 4 sandwiches. If you can get it for under $3 it might be worth a try to see if you like it! =D
DeleteI wanted to try this but it costs much more in my country. Glad I didn't!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so glad you saw this before you bought it! If you can get if for the price I did, it's worth a try, just for fun. But I have never used it again...and I recenlty threw it away because it was taking up space in my cabinet. Thanks for commenting! =D
DeleteThanks for the info. I bought mine at the dollar store... specifically for a jello mold. But I was gonna try the egg thing too.
ReplyDeleteYou're very welcome! You got a great deal. It's worth $1 to try it out! I hope you get a lot of use out of it for a jello mold. Thank you so much for commenting! =D
