Candied Walnuts
INGREDIENTS:
1 pound walnut halves
1 cup white sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon powder
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
6 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spread walnuts in a single layer onto a baking sheet.
Bake uncovered on middle rack for approximately 8 to 10 minutes,
or until the nuts start to turn brown and
the lovely aroma of roasted walnuts fills the kitchen.
While the walnuts are roasting...
On the stove top in a medium saucepan stir together sugar, cinnamon, salt, and milk.
Cook over medium-high heat for 8 minutes,
or until the mixture reaches the soft ball stage of 236 degrees F.
Remove from heat, and immediately stir in vanilla extract.
Now add the roasted walnuts to the mixture in the saucepan and stir to coat well.
Spoon nuts onto waxed paper, and immediately separate nuts with a fork.
Cool completely and store in airtight containers.

I've been saving this recipe in my email (I get notifications of your newest posts) just so I could use these with my black walnuts and give as gifts and they are surely a hit! I make goodie tin for my mother's friends as a gift from her. I made them, they tasted great within the family so I will be making a big batch tomorrow for those tins! Thanks for a great recipe!
