Sauteed Apples

Sauteed Apples
I'm not a huge fan of canned pie filling because it's just too sweet for my taste. So when I need cooked sweet apples for recipes, this is how I make them. It's so quick, easy and costs less than the canned variety. These sautéed apples are heavenly when served warm with a scoop of ice cream!

I've used these sauteed apples as a filling in recipes such as
Apple Pie Egg Rolls, and Super Easy Dessert Crepes.

I know there are LOTS of rules out there about what kind of apples to use depending on the recipe. Take a look *here* and you will see what I'm talking about...it's crazy!  I don't like to follow rules...plus I could never remember all the info in that link. I just use what tastes good to me. In this recipe I used McIntosh apples, but you can use any kind you prefer.

INGREDIENTS:
2 Tbls. butter
5 apples, peeled and cored - I used McIntosh
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. ground cinnamon

DIRECTIONS:
Slice the peeled, cored apples into 8 equal slices.
Heat a large skillet to medium and melt butter.
Then add in the sliced apples. Stir and sauté until apples are softened.
Then add in the brown sugar and cinnamon.
Stir until sugar has melted.
Can be stored covered in fridge for about a week.
Use in recipes where canned pie filling is needed.
Makes about 20-24 oz. of finished product.
Perfect when served warm with a scoop of ice cream.
Serves 8
